Nestled by the ocean and surrounded by a lush tropical forest, the Domaine To’a Hotu spans 2 hectares of pristine natural ecosystems, providing an authentic and immersive experience. A 300 m² villa with 6 air-conditioned bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, including one designed for people with reduced mobility (PMR), is fully equipped to comfortably accommodate 8 to 17 guests.
This exceptional estate is home to rare biodiversity, featuring an intact lagoon and coral ecosystem, and a tropical forest that provides a natural habitat for numerous exotic birds, such as the green pigeon, the New Zealand cuckoo, and the kingfisher. Its vegetation is equally remarkable, with over 300 plant species and a seasonal river that harbors freshwater shrimp and eels.
The current owners aim to offer travelers an enriching and sustainable experience through educational walks exploring the domain’s crops and animals. Guests will have the chance to discover and savor fresh local products, directly sourced from the surrounding nature during their stay.

THE VILLA

Level 0: Living Spaces and Total Comfort

The main level of this magnificent home features spacious and well-equipped living areas, designed to combine comfort and conviviality:
• Living Room & Kitchen (52 m²): Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen with an electric oven, microwave, induction stove, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, dinnerware, and utensils for 17 people, as well as a filtered water fountain. The living room includes a large screen TV, ceiling fans, a panoramic convertible sofa, benches, and a table for sharing memorable moments.
• Terraces: With two covered terraces (93 m²), this level offers a dining area with two large tables and seating for 18 people, as well as a cozy lounge area with sofas, armchairs, a coffee table, and stools. Additionally, an open-air terrace (35 m²) overlooking a fish pond provides a serene spot to enjoy the surrounding nature.
• Pitate Bedroom (27 m²): A wheelchair-accessible, air-conditioned bedroom with a ceiling fan, a king-size bed (180 x 200), and a single bed (100 x 200). The en-suite bathroom features a double sink, an Italian shower, and a suspended toilet.

• Shared Bathroom (6 m²): An independent bathroom with a sink, Italian shower, and WC, accessible to guests on this level.
• Terraces: A unique outdoor area with a 22 m² covered terrace furnished with a garden lounge and a 130 m² open-air terrace over two levels by the pool. This space includes a fare pote, bar, gas barbecue, and parasol, ideal for convivial outdoor moments.

A Bit of History

1. The property was acquired by Zane Grey in 1930.
   An American writer, Zane Grey was renowned for his adventure novels and stories that depicted an idealized vision of the American West.
   Grey was an avid reader of adventure tales such as Robinson Crusoe and The Leatherstocking Tales as well as short stories like Buffalo Bill and Deadwood Dick. He was fascinated by great illustrators like Howard Pyle and Frederic Remington and made rough attempts to imitate their style. He was particularly inspired by Our Western Border, a story about the Ohio frontier that likely influenced his early novels.
   After completing his studies, Zane Grey established his dental practice in New York in 1896 under the name Dr. Zane Grey. Being close to publishing houses allowed him to pursue his passion for writing, which he took up in the evenings to offset the monotony of his dental work.
   A passionate explorer, hunter, and fisherman, Grey documented his fishing adventures in Polynesia in his book Tales of Tahitian Waters. The book recounts his fishing expeditions in the Tahitian islands in 1928, 1929, and 1930. Grey claimed to be the first big-game fisherman in these waters, and his assertions are largely credible.
   During his travels through Tahiti en route to fishing expeditions in Australia and New Zealand, he heard tales of marlins 30 feet (9.1 m) long and sharks reaching 50 feet (15 m).

2. Previous owners : Forbes & Malard
   In the 1970s, this exceptional property was acquired by the renowned Forbes group, an international symbol of excellence in finance, business, and luxury lifestyle. Known for its influential rankings and publications, Forbes embodies success and prestige in the business world.
   The estate was later purchased by Raoul Gérard Albert Malard, the son of a prominent industrialist. Malard is best known for acquiring Monoprix from the Galeries Lafayette group, a major investment that likely contributed to his family’s fortune.
